In light of the worldly philosophies, legalism, and pagan practices, being promoted by some false teachers in Colossae, it is important to realize that the Gospel, with its focus on the completed work of Christ is the only hope for eternity, as well as in every day life.
The fact that many Believers have an earthly focus, rather than a heavenly one, shows how shockingly far modern Christianity has fallen from the Grace on which she has stood.
The influence of those in Colossae are alive and well today! It;s time for Christians to “…look up, and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh! (Luke 21:28)”
